The key elements of NASK's videoconferencing system are DSP (Digital Signal Processing)-based SONY PCS-1P video terminals that support point to point and multipoint (up to 6 sites) videoconferencing. SONY video terminals enable very efficient audio and video compression tools (H.264 encoding) that provide cost effective and very good quality transfer. PCS-1P video terminals use the video MPEG-4 and audio MPEG-4 AAC compression protocols that offer excellent image and sound quality. The available connection speed is 768 Kbps for ISDN (6 ISDN lines) and up to 2 Mbps for IP networks. Apart from real time voice and video transfer, Sony PCS-1P video terminals send and receive data with the XGA (1024 x 768) high resolution, which is very useful in remote presentations. In addition, they support AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) — a technology used by U.S. government agencies. In multipoint conferences, they can operate as videoconferencing servers for 6 sites in ISDN, IP or ISDN/IP networks (with any connection type configurations). SONY video terminals work with external devices like camcorders, microphones, PA and whiteboards, which is particularly important in supporting large videoconferences. They also enable saving diagrams, images and other content presented during conferences on SONY Memory Sticks. Depending on the requirements for a specific videoconference, we also use camcorders, audio and video mixers, cordless and cord microphones and lighting systems. In addition, we have camcorder operators as well as audio and video engineers and provide technical support.
