The Warsaw metropolitan network WARMAN was built by NASK to address the needs of the scientific and academic community as well as the general public in Warsaw. WARMAN provides the simplest and fastest access to the Internet using a permanent link in Warsaw.
WARMAN is one of the largest and most advanced MAN based on the ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) technology.
ATM provides:
- megabit up to gigabit per second data rates,
- simultaneous transfer of computer data (the Internet, LAN traffic) and isochronous signals (voice, video),
- transfer security - various connection switching options selected by the system,
- support for closed virtual networks whose traffic is mutually separated - so-called corporate networks.
The super fast (up to 622Mbps) WARMAN network has currently 35 nodes. This number guarantees a short distance between end-users and nodes and, consequently, high quality connections.
